Recent purchases

Despite the fact I still don't have a job (eeeeeek!) I have bought a few things here and there over the last few weeks, including on my trip to New York. Apologies for crappily taken photos!

Floral shorts, these babies were only $5.99. Bargain! They're a bit grannyesque but I love them

Floral dress(can you see a theme here??), this was only $7.99 in Value Village, the epicentre of junk! It's a bit long so I'll have to take it up but I think it'll be warm for Fall/Winter. Yes, I said Fall. Wooo!

60's Paisley dress, only $10!

Floral strappy dress, only $13.99 in New York in some No Name type shop! Bargain!

And finally, a ram/deer/moose/elk skull ring complete with awesome antlers from Topshop, cost $28 but it was worth it!!

Holly Fulton at LFW, mega swoon!

God, I want everything that Holly Fulton showed at London Fashion Week, all printed dresses and geometric necklaces. But I particularly want the 2 clutches below, my life will be sad without them.

Want want want!

I have plenty to blog about what with going to New York for the weekend, but with Topshop Unique AW 2010 now being on the website, all I can think about is the following items which I really want.

Antler headband £80

Racoon print dress £80

I guess if I want to purchase either, top of my want list is a job. Sigh

I had a dream...of leather shorts?

When I'm not having whacky dreams or dreaming or drinking coffee, I sometimes dream about clothes and the other night I had a great dream about an amazing pair of leather shorts which surprisingly came from Marks and Spencer of all places! The shorts were a beautiful buttery tan colour and perfectly high waisted, although they did have a weird zip off part at the back. It being a dream though, I'm sure this can be attributed to the whacky part of dreams and not an actual feature I would want!

I've spent a lot of time thinking about leather shorts recently, I was watching a pair on Ebay but couldn't bring myself to bid when they rose to 60 euro. Sad face. It also breaks my heart to think that Penneys will probably make their own version which no doubt will adorn the asses of every skanger in Dublin, accompanied by neon runners and hoodies. Shudder.

I'd like nothing more this winter than to dress in a Chloe combination of the last few seasons (how uncool of me), complete with a camel coloured cape, leather shorts, a similar paletted blouse and big flouncy hair.

I saw a Chloe-esque cape in Zara last winter but didn't buy it as I knew I'd never wear it. Fingers crossed I see some cheap but nice leather shorts soon.

Things that have excited me recently, part 1!

Seeing as I have so much free time here sans employment, I tend to take pleasure in the small things in life. Current things making me happy include the following:

*Music*

At the moment I'm enjoying listening to the following:

The National- High violet
Savoir Adore- In the wooded forest
Gang Gang Dance- Saint Dymphna
Glee series 1 volumes 2 and 3
Katy Perry random assortment
Sunburnt Jets- Low flying crow

*Chocolate*

I may have found the chocolate of my dreams last night in Honest Eds, slightly tipsy after two pints (I'm telling ya, I have no tolerance here! I can literally feel my legs go all funny and wobbly when I start drinking). Anywho, said chocolate is 'Black and White Coffee Chocolate', made in Poland and all for the delicious price of $1.23 including tax for a large bar. It tastes like the coffee Roses in the Roses box so even better is that fact that no one ever wants to share it! Huzzah!

*Inca Kola*

This is a delightful drink from Peru, a kinda limey yellow coloured cola that I actually only tried once in Peru but seeing it here was such a novelty that I had to go straight to it and buy two cans! It kinda tastes like cream soda I think, can't wait to see what Nigel thinks. Sarah is not a fan.

*Photos*

After struggling for ages to find somewhere cheap and cheerful to print photos, I finally ordered some from the Kodak website. Photo printing prices here are ludicrous, ranging from 33 cents for one 4x6 photo which then can rise to anything from 99 cents to $3.50 for a 5x7 photo! Ridiculous! I found one site to print them for cheap but it refused to acknowledge my credit card so instead, lovely Kodak with their 20 prints free with first order will be shipping my photos to me in 7 to 9 business days. I can't wait to stick them up and reminisce about South America and home!

We're gonna need a bigger boat

Last night I went to see Jaws in the local Bloor Cinema. It's a cute, old 1 screen cinema with a balcony and a huge curtain that pulls up to reveal the screen, very theatrical! Its been a while since I've seen the first Jaws and I've never seen it in a cinema so I jumped at the chance to see it.

You forget how great Jaws is until you re watch it. It's really nicely shot, its got some great colours and everytime you watch it, you pick up something else. Highlights include the following:

Mayor Vaughn's anchor print suit jacket. Miu Miu's inspiration perhaps?

A hot young Richard Dreyfuss....purr

Quint's story of the USS Indianapolis and her sinking, resulting in huge numbers of her soldiers being attacked by sharks, something I didn't know was a true story!

Finding out where the phrase 'That's some bad hat Harry' comes from. Said phrase can be seen at the end of programmes like House which is made by Bad Hat Harry Productions!
